ARPort SafetyVR + a compact training ground for your classroom
A compact training ground to complement VR
Complement the VR simulator with a compact training ground for practice in your classroom.
In virtual reality, learners select PPE, assess risks and rehearse action sequences. On the training ground in the same classroom, they develop skills with real equipment under an instructor’s supervision.
Options include footprints from 1.93 × 1.58 m and heights from 2.516 m. These dimensions allow a training ground to be installed directly in a classroom.
1.93 × 1.58 m · h 3.706 m
Two practice formats in one classroom
In the VR simulator
- Select PPE and a safety system for the task.
- Assess the scene and hazards on a virtual site.
- Rehearse action sequences in different situations.
- Review correct, incorrect and missed actions.
Repeat tasks and change their settings to reinforce decision-making skills.
On the compact training ground
- Inspect, attach and adjust equipment.
- Handle carabiners, lanyards and devices.
- Practise using safety systems.
- Develop physical skills under an instructor’s supervision.
Practice with real equipment can take place in the same classroom as VR tasks, provided sufficient clear space is available.
Understand and rehearse the actions first, then reinforce them using real equipment.
How to combine VR and a training ground in one session
Complete a VR task
The learner selects equipment and completes a task, such as climbing scaffolding using the chosen safety system.
Review decisions
The instructor reviews results and discusses PPE selection and action sequences. The group can follow the session on a shared screen.
Complete a physical exercise
On the training ground, the learner reinforces the corresponding actions using real equipment. Exercises depend on the training-ground configuration and available PPE.
Compact training grounds: example dimensions
Other compact configurations are available. The two examples below compare dimensions: one uses less floor space, while the other has a lower overall height. These are selection references rather than a complete range.
Smaller footprint
Compact footprint: 1.93 × 1.58 m. A narrow structure with a ladder and platform for rooms with sufficient ceiling height.
- Footprint
- 1.930 × 1.580 m
- Structure height
- 3.706 m
- Weight
- 324 kg
A reference option when a minimal footprint matters.
Lower overall height
Structure height: 2.516 m. A configuration with a platform, hatch, inclined section and wooden support.
- Footprint
- 3.089 × 2.608 m
- Structure height
- 2.516 m
- Weight
- 305 kg
A reference option when ceiling height is the constraint.
Practice in line with training requirements
Russian Ministry of Labour Order No. 782n · clause 17
Preparation for work at height requires relevant practical skills. Training solely through electronic learning tools and distance technologies is not permitted under these Russian rules.
Russian Government Resolution No. 2464 · clause 41
Under these Russian rules, a PPE-use training programme must include at least 50% practical sessions. This percentage applies specifically to the hours of the PPE-use programme.
VR and a training ground support different parts of practical training. The training programme determines the exercises and their duration. An instructor conducts training-ground sessions; the applicable requirements for qualifications and session organisation are taken into account when using the equipment.
Who can use VR with a training ground
Training centres
Combine situational VR tasks with real PPE exercises in a training programme.
Workplaces
Set up a practical training area according to workplace tasks and the safety systems in use.
Colleges and universities
Introduce students to action sequences and equipment before workplace or practical placements.
Questions about VR and training grounds
Do we need the full ARPort SafetyVR package?
No. You can purchase individual VR simulators or choose a suitable package. A training ground complements VR preparation for work at height and confined spaces.
Can VR combined with a training ground fully replace physical practice?
Yes, because the VR simulator and compact training ground together provide situational preparation and physical practice. Learners rehearse decisions, equipment selection and action sequences in VR, then develop physical skills with real PPE on the training ground under an instructor’s supervision.
